Was TGNA revolutionary?

It might be a little difficult to say because change is a constant factor in life.  I am of the thought that is not revolutionary because as individuals we go through some common changes in our daily activities and that is not uncommon to business empires. Such changes are needed after going through some sort of growth from simple to a more complex stage of running the business.
I see in the case of Toyota with the emergence of TGNA, the company saw the need to remain relevant in business and then came up with a platform/approach to make cars using more unvarying components thereby creating an atmosphere for the engineers to have better Toyota models that would fit into the current trend. (TNGA explained: engineering for the future, 2015). The approach in ramification is not revolutionary since Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary defines revolutionary as ‘involving a great or complete change’ but a spice up of technology to match up with the global trend of life.  According to Tsui (2017)“TNGA is about an overhaul mindset for the company and this an opportunity for the designers, stylists and production engineering and manufacturing to think about- and create – what is the best vehicle possible, the best plant possible.” To this end, Toyota is aimed at making its vehicles affordable, stronger, economical and to fit into the global trend. It is therefore not revolutionary but a continuous process of life carrying the future along.

From my own perspective, I don’t think that this new approach for manufacturing is driving a change in the quality strategy with these points:
Toyota is constantly evolving under its banner of “making ever-better cars”. This means it has set a mission statement to build cars to fit into the global trend. It has exhibited its willingness to drive quality rather than matching customer’s quality expectations. That is going beyond what the customers expect to get from them.
  • Re-invented production line
  • New generation factories
  • New production equipment
  • Redesigned paint booths
I also believe that Toyota, through the creations of its new system has succeeded in providing creative advantages and improvements which supports a reduction in environmental pollution. Its changes are working towards providing adequate quality products to its customers. Evolution is a continuous way of life which improves the standard and quality of life itself. We live in an era where speed and technology are considered the basic keys of service delivery, hence TNGA is in line with such a trend.

What are the challenges Zara face to maintain it's growth?

Notably, Zara has a unique approach to handle changing demand, which has allowed the company to become widely successful and a leading business organization in the fashion retail industry, in which many corporations struggle to deal with fast-changing environments, operations, and inventory costs. The arrival of new trends forces retailers to adapt their collections, causing what James (2011) calls the Forrester or bullwhip effect. Zara relies heavily on outsourced manufacturing, even though most operations and inventory decisions and strategies are still held, taken, and based out on their headquarters in Spain. Every time an order is placed, all items are shipped to Spain for final design adjustments and inventory stocking. With the use of technology and collaboration with its store managers, the company can produce only what is currently trending, which results in a significant reduction of unsold items caused by the rapidly changing tastes of consumers in this fast-changing ind

How Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) revolutionize the automobile manufacturing industry?

Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) system was created to revolutionize the actual automobile manufacturing systems. TNGA aims to promote a massive transformation in Toyota's development processes by emphasizing in harmony between planning and design, which, when appropriately combined and managed, will increase the company’s efficiency (N.A., 2015). Toyota's TNGA system is revolutionary because it creates an even leaner way of designing and manufacturing its cars and establishes a new era of vehicle design and production. From a different perspective, TNGA is a revolutionary system not because it employs a modular approach; since companies like Nissan and Volkswagen already use modular systems in their production plants (Schmitt, 2015). It is revolutionary because it is disruptive and expands the traditional and legendary Toyota’s lean methodology to a different level (N.A., 2015). This new global architecture system is disruptive to the old Toyota Production System (T
